Staff Ed swing

Ed Becker DVM graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine with honors. He spent his first year of practice in Africa working in a free clinic in Marrakesh and in Fes, Morocco. After returning to the States, he worked in a small animal practice in Elmira, New York for a year before designing and building The Animal Hospital. Over the years, he has mentored seven veterinarians and helped them move on to their own practice.  Ed has always had a deep respect for all animals, and an especially strong commitment to wildlife. Therefore, since opening the practice, he has treated countless sick and injured wildlife free of charge. The expertise developed in wildlife rehabilitation and treatment allowed him the opportunity to be asked to become the consulting veterinarian for the New York State DEC Endangered Species Unit. He has held this position for over 25 years. During this time, we have successfully treated and released many endangered species, including Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, and literally thousands of other furry and feathered friends. His primary focus, though, has always been treating and healing those animals that have a special bond with you, our clients.  Ed spends his leisure time rebuilding his 170 year old lake home. He shares his life with a rescued puppy, Daisy, who was abandoned. Ed was recently honored by being nominated and elected to the Cornell University Council.
