Ed Becker, DVM-graduated from Cornell University in 1968, and from Cornell’s Veterinary College in 1972. He spent his first year of practice in Africa working in a free clinic in Marakesh and in Fes, Morocco. After returning to the States, he worked in a small animal practice in Elmira, New York for a year before designing and building The Animal Hospital in 1974. Ed has always had a deep respect for all animals, and an especially strong commitment to wildlife. Therefore, since opening the practice, he has treated countless sick and injured wildlife free of charge. The expertise he developed in wildlife rehabilitation and treatment allowed him the opportunity to be asked to become the consulting veterinarian for the New York State Endangered Species Unit. Over the years, we have successfully treated and released many endangered species, including Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, and literally thousands of other furry and feathered friends. His primary focus, though, has always been treating and healing those animals that have a special bond with you, our clients. Ed spends as much time as possible with his best friend, his daughter, Alexis. Lexi is a nationally ranked equestrian and in her second year at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. She has five years down and three to go to join the practice in 2009! They share their life with 2 horses, 1 swan, several geese, and a Doberman Pinscher, named "Jedidiah".
